PANJAB UNIVERSITY Centre for Academic Leadership and Educational Management (under the PMMMNMTT Scheme of MHRD) announces National Conference on Sharing best practices Leadership, Ethics and Values (A training program for Educational Administrators and Managers) Concept Note- The objective of this National conference is to bring individuals and institutions together in fruitful conversation about ethical values and issues in leadership, inspire them to lead institutions with ethical values, while at the same time, empowering individuals to develop leadership abilities to further the common good in communities and organizations. It is proposed that the conference would create opportunities for sharing of practices and practical experiences in educational institutions by practitioners, ideas on innovations and applications drawn on the basis of action researches. The conference invites scholars, practitioners and researchers across domains, disciplines (including innovations and experiences promising integration of school and higher education). Through the conference dialogue about significant ethical ideas and issues amongst those who are interested in pursuing these practices would be initiated and best practices of different institutions will be discussed and analyzed so as to draw lessons from these for designing a course on leadership Important Themes for academic interactions: · Leadership and Ethics: accountability to whom, for what and by what means: Western and Eastern Perspective · Ethics, character and authentic transformational leadership behavior: Promoting ethical behavior trough leadership of ethics · Ethics and value oriented leadership · Servant Leadership, Theory and Practice: Teaching, Leading, Serving · Ethical decision making for the common good · Globally Responsible Leadership: Leadership, ethics and sustainability. · The Role of Beliefs, Values, and Ethical Decision Making in Educational Leadership CASE STUDIES · based on Social and Cultural Contexts of Ethical Educational Leadership: highlighting ethics of care, social justice and inclusion in educational settings · Leadership for building ethical environment/ work culture in educational institutions- Case studies from class rooms--engagement with ethical issues and the responsibilities, implications for improving quality in teaching and learning in higher education · Stories from the field of Successful Servant Leadership: Insights from Servant Leaders in Education, Business, Healthcare, Politics, Athletics, and Religion The two days conference will have six academic sessions comprising of lectures, panel discussions and presentation of case studies. Speakers for this conference would be Vice Chancellors, Directors of NCERT, NUEPA, IIM’s IIT’s, Spiritual Leaders and Directors/Principals of Schools.
